REWA Anatolia Recycling and Waste Management Fair Opened Its Doors for the Second Time in Adana!

REWA Anatolia 2025 has once again opened its doors, bringing together leading companies in the recycling and waste management industry! The official opening ceremony of REWA Anatolia took place on February 13 at the Adana International Fair and Congress Center, with the participation of key figures in the sector.

The REWA Anatolia – Recycling and Waste Management Fair and Conference, which brings together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders in the fields of recycling, waste management, and the circular economy, has officially commenced at the Adana International Fair and Congress Center. The event aims to share the latest developments in the industry, discuss innovative solutions, and foster strong collaborations. As part of the fair, Adana Chamber of Industry President Zeki Kıvanç, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Feydaş Machinery Chairman Gökhan Yoldaş, and REWA Anatolia Executive Committee President Ebru Can Güneş shared their views on recycling and waste management.

Kıvanç: “By 2035, We Will Use Only Recycled Raw Materials in Our Production”

Adana Chamber of Industry President Zeki Kıvanç emphasized in his speech that carbon agreements, sustainable production, and recycling are at the core of transformation. He pointed out that the European Union’s border carbon tax mechanism will be implemented in 2026 and stated:

“This transformation revolves around carbon agreements, sustainable production, and recycling. The process of the EU’s border carbon tax mechanism has already started, and financial obligations will come into effect in 2026. More than 50% of Turkey’s exports go to EU countries, making compliance with the Green Deal regulations crucial for our exporters. For the past five years, we have not been able to work with European brands without using recycled raw materials. By 2035, we will either produce our products entirely from recycled raw materials or use organic raw materials. Otherwise, accessing the European and U.S. markets will become increasingly difficult.”

Karalar: “Adana Will Be an Environmentally Friendly City with a Modern Recycling Facility”

Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar highlighted Adana’s progress toward becoming an exemplary city with environmentally friendly recycling systems:

“Today, waste management is no longer just an option—it is a necessity. To avoid harming nature and to use our resources efficiently, we must strengthen our recycling systems. As municipalities, we actively participate in this process. However, our citizens must also contribute to this transformation. Separating household waste at its source is of great importance, yet we still face some challenges in this area. We will not allow Adana to become Europe’s waste dump. There have been some ill-intentioned attempts in the past, but necessary precautions have been taken. Now, Adana is on its way to becoming an exemplary city with eco-friendly recycling systems. We are planning to establish a highly modern recycling facility. By keeping all processes under control, we will ensure that waste is reintegrated into the economy without harming the environment. Our project is ready, and we will implement it as soon as possible.”

Yoldaş: “Turkey’s Recycling Sector is Powered by Adana”

Feydaş Machinery Chairman Gökhan Yoldaş emphasized the importance of proper waste management and recycling, noting that Adana, home to some of Turkey’s largest recycling factories, significantly contributes to the national economy:

“Most plastic products can be recycled. However, waste management must be done correctly, and consumer habits must be shaped accordingly. Recognizing plastic as an economic asset, we must first establish effective source-separation and collection systems. The systems successfully implemented in Europe can also be made efficient in our country. Adana, which hosts Turkey’s largest recycling factories, plays a crucial role in the national economy. For this sector to grow and become more efficient, the public and private sectors must collaborate. Recycling and Waste Management Fairs in Adana and Istanbul are essential for raising awareness and advancing the industry. Supporting such events is critical for increasing waste management awareness.”

Güneş: “The Recycling Fair in Adana Will Shape the Future of the Industry”

REWA Anatolia Executive Committee President Ebru Can Güneş stated:

“For many years, waste has been perceived as a problem worldwide, but the awareness that it should be considered a raw material is spreading rapidly. Our country has made significant progress in this regard and has reached an important position, particularly in plastic waste recycling.”

She highlighted that the fair will showcase the latest technological developments and innovations in the recycling industry, featuring expert speakers discussing crucial industry topics. Additionally, this year’s event will include a special information session on the deposit return system.

Güneş emphasized the significance of Adana hosting Turkey’s first and only recycling fair, stating that the city has great potential in the recycling sector and that the fair will continue to contribute significantly to the industry’s development.
